Gender Male Note - Robert Trefusis Mallett became a chief engineer in the Indian State Railways and joined the Bombay public works department in January 1868. He subsequently became an executive engineer on the Punjab N. state railway in November 1868. He then became an engineer in chief of the Indus Valley railway in April 1879, director of stores of a railway branch in October 1880 and then went on to become engineer in chief of the Rewari-Firozpur railway in November 1881 and of the Firzpur bridge in 1885. He separated from his wife in 1891.
Robert was transferred to the N.W. railway as chief engineer in January 1886 and then Engineer-in-Chief of the Chenab bridge project in May 1887. He also temporarily held office of director general of the railways in 1887. Robert retired in March 1902 and died on the 15th November 1913 at 99 Cromwell Road, South Kensington, London, at the age of 77 years.

Probate records proved in London on 22 January 1913 show that he left effects to the value of £8407 4s 3d to his nephew Francis Robert Leighton West gentleman and the Public Trustee.

- Robert Trefusis Mallett became a chief engineer in the Indian State Railways and joined the Bombay public works department in January 1868.
