In 1929, he moved to a non-profit organisation, Toc. H* initially as Ass. General Secretary in London, and subsequently as General Secretary for Southern Africa, in Johannesburg. Margaret also worked for Toc H as private Secretary to the Founder.
During the 2nd World War, he served for 2 years with the S. African army field unit, comprised of Toc H and YMCA personnel, and then as Commissioner for Toc H with H.M. Forces in North Africa.
After returning to England in 1944, he took a position with the Conservative party, and worked as Political Agent in the constituencies of Hornsey, Harrow East, and finally Wokingham.
He and Kathleen had no children. He died in 1982 in Wokingham.
