      Alf "hated the name 'Alphonso'," writes Irene.

      "Alphonse Mallett lived in farm on Union Road until his death about 1942. Then the farm was sold shortly after to a Dutch family. The old farmhouse still stands but has been renovated and newer house and barn is now on property."-- writes Steven Mallett.

      Alphonse was Mellett for a time, no idea when he reverted to the Mallett spelling, but despite other documents from his middle years, his gravestone used Mellett.
