    • I found them by accident while looking through the 1891 census of Acton for James and Mary Jane Conboy. I didn't find the Conboys but I did find Rosa and Albert McKee living as "lodgers" with John and Annie Matthews. Obviously Annie was living with Eliza and William McKee in Shelburne when she married, and the two children were living with her, or perhaps just visiting in 1891. I didn't find the McKees in 1891 in Shelburne, so perhaps Annie was keeping the two oldest while the McKees were on the move to somewhere else.

      The birth record for Hazel originally had her as Elizabeth. The "Hazel" was added in 1940 in a "correction" signed by George Alexander Eakins. He may have been a clerk or he may have been a relative.

      Hazel was a baby 3 months old in the 1891 census. She was still the only child listed in 1901, when Annie was 36, there were not likely any more children.

      The marriage was witnessed by Humphrey Matthews of Erin and Annie Braiden of Amaranth. I learned that Frederick's wife Mary Ann's last name was Lake from the marriage certificate.
