Notes:
Originally located in Sticklepath near Okehampton, the burial ground was provided for local members of the Religious Society of Friends, otherwise known as the Quakers.
However, after the famous preacher John Wesley made several visits to the village, local residents began to follow the teachings of what was to become the Methodist church and eventually the burial ground was given to them. Several members of the Mallett family joined the Methodist congregations in Sticklepath and neighbouring villages. The spot where John Wesley gave his sermons is located a few hundred yards from the burial ground. (For more information see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Wesley )
