    • Hi Paul,

Still trolling for Mallett info but have hit the wall I think.

While searching Victorian records for my Joseph Mallett family or parts thereof I have found Sampson William John Mallett's and Maria Mallett's (Jennings) arrival in Australia.

They arrived on the Iberia on 24 May 1884 (sampson aged 28 and Maria aged 24).

      Port B Microfiche 434 and Page 015 and 006.

Below is the URL if you are interested. Let me know if it does not work.

      Hello Paul,

Research is progressing slowly and have a hit a brick wall or two with the Australian bit. I am about to order the marriage certificate that you put me on to from the Liskeard Record Office. I also acquired the birth certificate of Emily Jane Mallett and lashed out on the older sister's one as well as there was some confusion with the name. They contained more information than I expected.

I've got my daughters interested and we took a rubbing of Emily Harden's (nee Mallett) headstone on the weekend as it was nearly illegible.

What I am wondering is have you in your research located another Joseph Mallett of St Neots born in about 1845 who married a Grace Eustace (Eustice) Uren (of Camborne)? It occurred in Liskeard, Cornwall on 23 January 1873. The marriage is on BDM as is the birth and death of a son Joseph Henry in 1874? They came to Australia some time between 1875 and 1877. Although the ages do not tie up it is a remote chance but could my Joseph Mallett have returned home to Cornwall to find a new wife? Do you have anything that will support or refute this hypothesis.

I have also lucked out on the deaths of Joseph Mallett and Elizabeth Jane Mallett nee Palmer so I am wondering if you can put me in touch please with Myra Davey in Canada as you thought she had a reference to Joseph's death.

My Langley research is also in a cul de sac at the moment. I am stuck in the region of Sheffield and/or Ecclesall Bierlow, West Riding, Yorkshire between about 1850 and 1858 and don't quite know where to investigate next. I get the impression that records from this area and time period won't be available until late this year.

      Regards and thanks

      Tony Langley
