      Note from Susan Edwards, March 2003: Canada Census 1881: There is a Robert MALLET with a wife Mary and 9 of their children are noted but not Alice, Julia, James or Fred.

      "The 'MALLETT' place was the second one north of his father's farm. It was a most unsuitable place to farm. The house was built about 1/2 mile from the road because the front half of the property was an Alder swamp with a brook running through it. The farm was 42 acres of which only about 20 acres was usable. The PEI. railway was later built through their property beside the house. The train stopped in front of their house to draw water from the 'tank' for the locomotive. The 'Tank' was a deep hole in the brook."--Jim MELLETT
