- The register entry states that John Mallett senior (so not his son John born in Gidleigh) married Amy Shore by licence and he signed his name. It appears that he married Amy five years after Jane Cunnett died. When John himself died, Amy then married John's brother-in-law Richard Cunnett who was also a blacksmith.
