- Married 'as a widow' m. abt. 1771 (2) Roger Godbold.
['Widow' is not accurate, Tina says. Rob't merely disappeared and after he was absent three years Marg.]
Note from Tina : An employee of the Suffolk Record Office at Lowestoft has been researching and has come up with the following:
21 December 1768 - Margaret Mallett age 35 admitted to the Shipmeadow Workhouse - she was the wife of Robert Mallett and he had run away. Robert Mallett was a shoemaker. There was a half Guinea reward out for him! It was apparently advertised.
25 January 1769 - Margaret Mallett was delivered of a male child.
13 November 1771 - Margaret Mallett age 36 her daughter Rebecca age 6 (bap 20 April 1766) and son John age 3 were discharged at her own request.
She then married Roger Godbold.
