- George, Susan, Archibald, Harold, Albert, and "Edward", all appear as steerage passengers on 2 different passenger lists for 2 different ships dated about 2 weeks apart, both bound for Ancud, Chile. The first was dated January 1, 1896 for the ship "Potosi". The second was dated Jan 15, 1896 for the ship "Orcana". The details of the family are the same on both lists, but the other passenger names are different. Perhaps, for whatever reason, the family was set to travel on Jan 1 but had to reschedule to Jan 15. Interestingly, George gave his occupation as "Farmer", as did most of the other men on the passenger list. Prior to that he was a Carpenter and Builder. Perhaps the family joined in some sort of colonization sheme to settle in Chile.
