    Notes
    • Bapt. 22 Aug 1803 Blundeston.
He was a butler in Worlingham Hall-- 1 1/2 miles east of Beccles. [It's been ] knocked down now, replaced by houses. Lady Gosford was there in William the Butler's day. She died, he went to work elsewhere, but I tracked him down. I wrote to her son Lord Gosford, in London at the time, hoping the family records might mention butlers; he replied, saying that all their records were destroyed by a bomb dropped during the war. East Anglia had many attacks.--Ted)

A Note on the tree drawn by George Ambrose Mallett of Ipswich, 1951, says one of the sons of John was born at Ashby, name forgotten.
